Roxby Downs
20.07.07
Same stuff different day -2⁰ last night but a nice warm sunny day.
Went in and bought paper but no coffee, sat in the car to read. Bought paint etc from Mitre 10 and borrowed painting gear from Sharron and husband. Paint etc cost $200.
Went for a drive to Andamooka and bought some painting clothes from the CWA Op shop. Shop chocka block with clothes wont sell them in a hundred years!
Andamooka is still a rough dirty town with not much (or any) civic pride. It appears to be much the same as it was when Ron Hood and I went there. in 1959.
Checked on the Prado to find that the people in Adelaide are “having trouble” sourcing a 60mm socket they need to start on the gearbox. Voiced my disapproval to Gary (Roxby) but pointed out that we were very happy with his input. He said that as he was in town tomorrow he would see if he can find one for them. Still it’s not good enough that they cannot find one in the whole of Adelaide. They are probably saying “don’t worry about it BHP have plenty more Toyota’s in Roxby”.
LATER: Rang Andre who in turn rang NorthPoint and they do indeed have a problem sourcing a special spanner to fit. They are fully aware of our particular situation so will just have to sit back and relax.
We went to dinner with Bruce and Paula McEvoy; they are living in a 3 bedroom unit in a group of 22. They made us very welcome and we spend a delightful evening with them. They have been here for 2/3 years after leaving farming at Minnipa.
